Thundercat is the virtuoso bassist and singer Stephen Bruner, a mercurial talent and GRAMMY award winner. His most recent album, 2020’s “It Is What It Is,” was awarded Best Progressive R&B Album at the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards. The album featured close friends and collaborators including Steve Lacy, Childish Gambino, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil B, Zack Fox, and more.

The track “Funny Thing” from the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA, while “Dragonball Durag” achieved Gold status. “Funny Thing” also recently featured in Gap’s “Get Loose” dance advert with Troye Sivan and has trended multiple times on TikTok.

Thundercat has remained highly active since his last solo album. His RIAA-certified Platinum hit “Them Changes” trended again on TikTok in 2023, leading to over 7 billion video views and 3 million creations on the platform. This surge included posts from high-profile figures such as Barack Obama, Kim Kardashian, and Lil Nas X. Consequently, “Them Changes” re-entered the Billboard Hot R&B Songs Top 20 for three weeks and charted on Shazam charts in 30 countries, including the US Top 100.

In April 2023, Thundercat released a collaborative single with Tame Impala titled “No More Lies.” He now boasts over 3.3 billion global streams across digital platforms. His digital presence has grown significantly, with his Instagram following surpassing 1.1 million and other online followings at least doubling over the same period.

Most recently, he released “The Orange Cat’s Special Time Outdoors” with the children’s musical show Yo Gabba Gabba! in August 2024, appearing on their Tiny Desk Concert and performing with them at both weekends of Coachella 2025. Other recent features include the title track of Gorillaz's album “Cracker Island” and a collaboration on Justice’s new album, “The End.”
