Based in New York, the Finnish visual artist Terike Haapoja produces large-scale installation work, writings, and political projects which investigate the mechanics of othering. She focuses in particular on issues arising from the anthropocentric worldview of Eurocentric traditions.

Recognition for Haapoja’s work has grown since she represented Finland in the 55th Biennale in Venice, with a solo show at the Nordic Pavilion. Vulnerability, Community, Animality is the first major monograph of her work. The volume presents works and collaborative projects from 2004 to 2020, together with essays on her practice by T. J. Demos and Taru Elfving, and an interview with Heather Davis.
