Prosthetic rehabilitation of missing structures in the oral and maxillofacial region in accordance with devan & principle of preservation has been the ultimate challenge to the prosthodontist. This direct structural and functional connection between living bone and implant surface termed as osseointegration, was first described by Br?nemark 1977 and has undoubtedly been one of the most significant scientific breakthroughs in dentistry over the past 30 years.Thus a close contact of bone and implants at the cellular level is a prerequisite for successful long term implant supported prosthetic function. The close approximation of bone and threaded implants must allow transmission of forces with little relative displacement of bone and implants, even in the absence of adhesive bonds between them.
