Many stalwarts in the field of poultry have summed up their experiences in the form of text books, atlas for poultry professionals, students and Indian farmers. The present objective of this compilation is to provide a handy tool to students for academic(as per VCI) as well as in future by understanding the gross pathology and differentiating features for diagnosis of poultry diseases in a simple and understandable way on the spot diagnosis under field conditions is much essential though a large number of serological, molecular and other routine laboratory tests, have been developed. At times the birds reach laboratory in decomposed form and may not be fit for post-mortem examination and disease diagnosis. The delay in diagnosis allows the disease to inflict mortality and effect economy of farmers.The budding veterinarians should understand the strategies to be adopted for prevention of infections during purchase of breeding stock that are free from vertically-transmitted diseases.
