This is a beautifully illustrated guidebook to HMS Queen Elizabeth - the biggest and most powerful warship ever constructed for the Royal Navy. It is named in honour of the first Queen Elizabeth, a renowned World War I era super-dreadnought.



Capable of carrying up to 60 aircraft, HMS Queen Elizabeth is the largest British warship ever built. At 280m, it is longer than the Houses of Parliament (265m) and the the Spinnaker Tower (170m) in Portsmouth where it is based. The new Queen Elizabeth class carrier is 35 times the size of Nelson's famous flagship HMS Victory and four times her length.



Launched in 2014 at Rosyth by Her Majesty the Queen, it was completed in 2017 and will be fully operational by 2020.
