A lo largo de la historia de la catedral de Ja?n se constata la preocupaci?n de obispos y capitulares por conseguir un amueblamiento competente con su arqui-tectura. Esto explicar?a los esfuerzos realizados para lograr que algunos de los maestros m?s destacados de las artes pl?sticas y decorativas de la Edad Moderna, pasaran o dejaran obras de calidad que estuvieran a la altura de la que era no solo la iglesia mayor de una importante di?cesis, sino tambi?n el relicario de la vene-rada Ver?nica. Junto a las piezas ejecutadas por artistas espa?oles, la catedral de Ja?n tambi?n recibi? otras de fuera de la Pen?nsula Ib?rica. Destacados talleres art?sticos europeos, especialmente italianos y ? amencos, as? como de Am?rica y Filipinas dejaron su huella en la colecci?n catedralicia. Estas obras han sido es-tudiadas en profundidad por investigadores nacionales y extranjeros y sus con-clusiones se publican en este libro que sit?a al templo mayor giennense en los circuitos art?sticos m?s ? orecientes de la Edad Moderna.
The Cathedral of Ja?n under Scrutiny II
Throughout the history of the cathedral of Ja?n, it is possible to verify how obtaining furni-shing attuned to the architecture was a constant source of concern to bishops. This would explain the efforts made to achieve that some of the most outstanding artists of the plastic and decorative arts of the Modern Age worked or donated quality works that could be compared to a building that was not only the Main Church of an important diocese but also the reliquary of the venerated Veronica. Along with the pieces made by Spanish artists, the cathedral of Ja?n also received other works made outside of the Iberian Peninsula. Outs-tanding European art workshops, mainly Italian and Flemish, but also from America and the Philippines left their mark on the collection of the cathedral. These works have been studied in depth by national and foreign researchers, and their conclusions are published in this book, which situated the cathedral of Ja?n in the context of the most ? ourishing circuits of the Modern Age.
