Humour is thematic in the selection of stories about the people who worked, lived, drank and sometimes died in the hotel. The young, the middle aged and the old were all tired of wars. They wanted to have fun and laughter. I have drawn word pictures of the people who made the hotel their second home and in some cases their first home. I was prepared to dislike them but they endeared themselves to me. Time passed, a stranger with one gun and one tooth came to town. He tried to kill me, but I was saved by a chamber pot.
