This volume comprises the papers selected for presentationat the international conference on Formal Methods inProgramming and Their Applications, held in Academgorodok,Novosibirsk, Russia, June-July 1993. The conference wasorganized by the Institute of Informatics Systems of theSiberian Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences and wasthe first forum organized by the Institute which wasentirely dedicated to formal methods. The main scientific tracks of the conference were centeredaround formal methods of program development and programconstruction.
