An alternate history that deals with some familiar themes such as racism and the class society. It also introduces a new technology that is quite intriguing for any linguist: almost everything in society is in some way aided by the power of words, by combining words and different languages. An adventure of discovery for one of the main characters turns into quite a tumultuous chain of events that eventually affects society as a whole. A fascinating read, especially for linguists.
