One of King’s best!
King’s arguably slowest paced 1 152-page novel is a book about a virus that kills off 99.9 per cent of the population. It’s an apocalyptic novel about the fight between good and evil, where evil is a man called Randall Flagg, the dark man, the warlord of the charnel house and Prince of Evil. A group consisting of survivors of the apocalypse must defeat Randall Flagg’s growing amount of supporters in the west.
The Stand is obviously a slow read with many chapters focusing on a different character’s perspective, but in my opinion it’s also Stephen King’s most epic and rewarding novel. The situation is interesting, there are lots of interesting characters and even though it’s long, it’s still entertaining, fascinating and a joy to read. This novel may not be for someone who is in a reading slump or wants to get into reading, but it’s definitely for those that love reading and want a ton of it. One of King’s best!
